GUIDELINES: HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR RESUME

What employment opportunities are currently available at HGS?

To view a listing of employment opportunities, you should search our job listings. You can narrow your search using the search fields provided, or you can view a listing of all posted jobs.

How do I submit a resume?

Each job posting you view will have a button at the top (Job Cart) that will allow you to apply for multiple postings with a single application. Add the jobs that interest you to your job cart by clicking the Add to Cart button next to each Job ID or at the top of each individual job posting. When you have finished, click the Apply Online button to apply to the jobs you have put in your cart. If you do not see a position of interest, but would still like to submit your resume, click the Apply Online button.

When submitting your resume you will be asked to provide additional data pertaining to your job search. Please be sure to provide the information requested. Once you click on the submit button, your resume will become part of our system, which includes a searchable database. The database is used by Human Resources to match your skills with available openings.

Can I send a resume and cover letter to the hiring manager?

All resumes are received centrally. It is not necessary to address a cover letter to a specific individual. If you would like to include a cover letter, you may paste in the space provided when you submit your contact information and resume.

How do I know if you received my resume?

Once you have submitted your resume, you will receive an email message thanking you for your submission. The receipt of the email message is your confirmation that we received your resume.

I submitted my resume through the online system but I would like to mail/fax it to you just to make sure you received it.

If you received the confirmation message, we received your resume. It is important to note that you should not submit your resume multiple times.

Will I be notified one way or the other if the job is filled or if I progress in the process?

If after having reviewed your resume, there is interest in your skills, a representative from HGS will contact you. Because of the volume of resumes received, we regret that we cannot contact all applicants.

How long are job postings generally on the Web site?

Postings remain on our website until the position is filled.

If I do not have access to a computer, how can I submit my resume?

Submitting your resume online is the preferred method. However, you can also fax your resume to 301-309-1845 or mail it to the attention of the Human Resources Department at 14200 Shady Grove Road, Rockville, Maryland 20850.
